Illuminate 2011

2011

Shining a light on six new dance works by six emerging choreographers

Illuminate 2011

In 2010, the Move Through Life Company developed a new program, the Expand Choreographic Program, designed to expand the confidence and skills of emerging choreographers, with guidance from mentors, and artistic advisory panel, and other company dancers. Expand included a weekly choreographic club, where choreographers could share and expand on ideas, and work in progress presentations where the artistic advisory group could give feedback and guidance. The works created through Expand were presented in our Illuminate Performance Initiatives, the first of which -was held in September 2011. September

The six dance works in Illuminate 20211 explored themes of love, loss, anxiety, and the human experience. Each piece brought a unique perspective, from the whimsical to the poignant, exploring the intricacies of life and relationships.

... cackle with delight in response to Chelsea Nickels' quirky take on the sense of sight and burst out laughing at Melissa Hill's hilarious rendition of everyday people losing their cool in a very slow doctor's surgery.

... alternate between delight and tears at Louise Durrans' tribute to the sweethearts of lost serviceman and the bitter sweet nostalgia of Dan Turbill's portrait of a woman with dementia

... nod your head in recognition as Cherie Broad takes you over the edge of anxiety and back to serenity.

... smile secretly as you remember your own experience of love during Jo McDonald's depiction of the rollercoaster of romance
