… IT’S THE EARLY 1970s IN ADELAIDE TURBULENT TIMES CHARGED WITH CHANGE
Join us in The Cinnamon Lounge where the soul band is smooth and the dancers have turned up the funk Imagine being in an underground soul club in Adelaide in the early 1970s, grooving to Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder and experiencing the turbulence and vitality of the era known as the 'pivot of change'.
The 70s were turbulent times, charged with radicalism on all fronts of society. There were massive social shifts. While there's been substantial social change since then, many of the key issues are still of concern today - like gender equality, war, violence against women, and advertising of products harmful to health.
Soul Night at the Cinnamon Lounge is a collaboration between seven choreographers and soul band The Special Guests. It was modelled on our highly successful 2009 Black Coffee season which sold out two weeks before opening in the Adelaide Fringe.
